VISITING FRANCE

Did you know that France is the most popular tourist destination in the world? That’s right. It is neither the United States of America nor the United Kingdom – it is France, where the City of Love, Paris, is located. Every year, the country garners around 82 million foreign travelers and tourists from all over the world. Aside from Paris, this particular European country is also renowned for its wines and cheeses. In a nutshell, there is much to love in this country, from its history to its food, its countryside to its castles, its climate to its beaches, and its structural sites to its fashion.

If France is the next stop you have in your long list of places to visit, you may be wondering where you should start. Again, there are just a multitude of attractions that you are sure to enjoy during your stay, but there are some that you should just begin with. Aside from those listed and discussed below, you should also visit the Chateau de Chambord, which is one of the most popular château in France (the first being the Versailles), the Palais des Papes, which is not only one of the world’s most important Gothic structures, but also one of the most massive, and the tallest European sand dune, the Dune of Pyla.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower has long since served as a symbol of the city of Paris. This tower, built by Gustave Eiffel, is one of the reasons why millions of people visit France. The main reason for its construction was to serve as the 1889 Exhibition of Paris’ entrance arch. With more than 200,000,000 people from all over the world having paid this site a visit, there is no longer a need to wonder why it is the most visited paid attraction in the entire globe.

St. Tropez

St. Tropez, located in the French Riviera, is the playground of the rich and the famous. During the summer season, many well-known people come flocking to it, including fashion models, celebrities, and millionaires. It is best that you visit this area during the colder months, when there are fewer famous people around. This way, you can truly appreciate why people are drawn to it.

The Gorge du Verdon

Next on the list is the Gorge du Verdon, 15-mile long canyon that is 700 meters above the Verdon River. The river, which name has been derived from the color of its water (emerald green), is one of the most majestic sites the French people tend to boast of – for many great reasons. If you are into water sports, sailing, water skiing, rafting, and kayaking can all be enjoyed here.

Mont Saint Michel

A tiny tidal island, Mont Saint Michel can be found just off Normandy’s coast. At its very peak, you will find the immaculately maintained Norman Benedictine Abbey of St. Michel. Surrounding it are more impressive architectural wonders, including medieval buildings and intertwined streets among many others.

Chamonix

One of the most popular ski resorts located in the French Alps, the Chamonix is where the first ever Winter Olympic Games, which took place back in the year 1924, was held. Here, you will find top-of-the-line skiers and snow boarders. It features some of the most challenging and difficult slopes in the whole of Europe.
