VISITING SWITZERLAND

There is no doubt that Switzerland is one of the most famous travel destinations in Europe, with it having been able to fascinate the Americans since the legendary and iconic Grand Tour. The fact that it is one of the best places to live in today’s world also does not suppress the appetite of the wanderlust. Yes, it has a long-standing reputation for being chic and being the home of world-class and extremely pricey hotels, but there are a lot of other things it has to offer to the perennial traveler.

Zurich

Zürich, which is in the heart of Europe, is one place you should not miss when you are visiting Switzerland. For many people, this is actually the number one destination in the entire nation. Situated on the northern part of the majestic Lake Zürich, offering breathtaking views of the Alps, the city attracts tourists from all over the world with its flair for the multicultural and the plethora of interesting and leisurely activities it has to offer.

Geneva

Next is Geneva, which sits prettily between the Jura’s hilly terrain and the Alpine peaks’ natural beauty. This French-speaking city is situated in the bay where the Lake Geneva bids Rhone goodbye. One of the things that it is most well-known for is its title of being the “Capital of Peace.” Here, you can immerse yourself in a humanitarian and heartwarming tradition as well as a cosmopolitan culture. It is also where Red Cross is headquartered at.

Lucerne

To a lot of people, Switzerland’s true essence can only be experienced in Lucerne. Known for being the gateway to the country’s central area, the city is situated on the Lake Lucerne, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the attention-deserving Alps. This is where you will find a town without any automobiles, a medieval bridge, historic houses complete with frescoes, and quaint town squares among many other charms. Don’t miss the Culture and Convention Centre (KKL), a masterpiece of renowned French architect Jean Nouvel.

Interlaken

If you are into outdoor activities or you simply want to marvel at the beauty of nature, then Interlaken should be in your list of places to visit in Switzerland. The nation’s Bernese Oberland Region, which sits between the Lake Thun and the Lake Brienz, is where you will find three mountains, namely: the Eiger, the Mönch, and the Jungfrau. This, plus a lot more, is the reason why people refer to Interlaken as the country’s adventure capital. Here, you can choose from 45 different mountain railways and experience what it is like to be in a cable car, a chair lift, or a ski lift surrounded by beautiful scenes. Hiking trails are aplenty here too.

Lake Geneva Region

Last, but not the least, is the Lake Geneva Region. This is where you will find two of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Despite the fact that it is perceived only as the 5th among the most popular areas in Switzerland, what it has to offer is definitely comparable with the leading ones. The picturesque Lausanne is so pretty that there is no longer a need to wonder why the International Olympic Committee considers it a home – more than 100 years has passed since it was founded here. The town encompasses three hills, all of which are covered in sloping vineyards. At the bottom is Lake Geneva, and just across the body of water is the French Savoy Alps.
